Sunday at the Stone!
Not every Sunday can have the best run through. That was the case today. This went wrong and that went wrong but the service came off pretty good until.....Gary got up to preach. His mic made one of the weirdest sounds I have ever heard. I thought the system might blow but they killed it before it did. Gary grabbed a hand held mic and somehow preached he message while holding his Bible (he does not use a stand so he holds his Bible). Today he held his Bible and the mic and was not even able to wipe the sweat away. I guess that is life when you are portable!

Sorry to leave this question in the comments section, but I couldn't find an email address.
I need you help and opinion.
Ever since I arrived to our church, I haven't been happy with our Database software and management system.
It is called PowerChurch and it is cumbersome, it has a difficult interface, it is only on our network (so there is no web access to the information), it tries to do everything (membership, database, financial) and it does nothing well.
We are finally ready to jettison this software and I need your opinion of what you have used, what you like, why you are using it. I would rather have real life recommendations rather than just go to software companies who are going to give me the sales spin.
We are looking for a powerful, yet flexible database, membership management application. Web based would be nice and preferred, but willing to flex on that if I need to. User-friendly interface and does it play well with other software programs, MS office, Quicken etc...
If you have any opinions or thoughts on this, I would greatly appreciate it!

Bill,
We currently are using FellowshipOne. It is a good web based database. It does a lot for us and we can manage everything from there. It is costly and we are looking into ACS for children's check in. It is fairly easy to use and we are able to manage members and staff using it. I hope this helps.
Malcolm:
Comments were closed on Gary's last post. He said you had the biggest white board. I want to make a suggestion for when you big whiteboard is finally not big enough.
I am able to visually keep track of much more with MindManager software from MindJet, a visuall mindmapping application. Big white board meant you are a global, visual manager. I know MM is a blessing to me and I thought it might be to you as well.
I enjoy reading about 'The Stone.' Thanks for being there.
